I finally got to do what I had been dreaming about for so long — fun diving in Koh Tao! Koh Tao has more than 25 dive sites all around the island, and every dive felt like a new adventure.
My favourite dive site of all is Sail Rock. The first time I dived there, I couldn’t believe my eyes. It felt like entering a huge underwater stadium full of life. Every time I go to Sail Rock, I always see:
• A giant school of barracuda swirling around like a silver tornado
• A huge great barracuda that looks like a boss guarding the rock
• Schools of batfish moving slowly like floating dinner plates
• Big groups of jackfish swimming fast in circles
• And the big, fat groupers hiding between the rocks, watching everyone swim by
Sail Rock always feels alive. No matter how many times I visit it, it never feels the same. Sometimes the water is super clear, sometimes it’s full of tiny plankton, but the fish are always there, doing their thing.
One of my favourite parts of diving in Koh Tao isn’t just the underwater world — it’s also the dive boat. On the boat, I get to meet divers from all around the world. Some are beginners like me, and some are super experienced with hundreds of dives. Everyone shares stories about where they’ve been, what they saw today, and their favourite sea animals. I love listening to their accents and learning about different countries.
Sometimes we laugh about funny dive moments. Sometimes they tell me cool facts about sharks or stingrays or currents. It makes me feel like I’m part of a big diving family — even though I’m still young.
Every trip around Koh Tao makes me feel more confident underwater. Every dive teaches me something new. And every single time I jump off the boat, I feel grateful that I get to explore such an amazing underwater world.
